I grew up in a fourth-generation family business. So I know what that world is actually like - the dynamics, the things nobody says out loud and those decisions that keep getting parked.

Later I built my own business and sold it to a Fortune 500 company. This took nine months and I made plenty of mistakes along the way.

So when an owner sits across from me with a conversation they can't quite have inside the room - I've probably been in a version of that room myself.
