Supporting your clients through complex ownership and succession decisions

Generations does not compete with or replace professional advisors.

The role is to strengthen ownership clarity and governance thinking - often making accounting and legal advice more effective.

You are trusted with your clients’ structures, numbers and legal frameworks.

But sometimes what they are wrestling with isn’t technical.

It’s:

• Succession conversations they’re avoiding
• Ownership tension that isn’t being said out loud
• A founder who knows they can’t stay forever - but doesn’t know how to step back
• A business that works - but depends too heavily on one individual.

That’s where I’m often asked to come in.

Not to replace you.
Not to redesign structures.
But to help owners think clearly about what comes next.

How Generations supports existing advisors

• Bring structure and discipline to succession conversations
• Clarify ownership, governance thinking and leadership roles
• Strengthen alignment between family, board and management
• Improve exit-readiness well before a transaction is contemplated

The outcome isn’t complexity.

It’s clearer thinking, calmer decision-making and better alignment - which makes professional advice easier to implement.

When ownership clarity is strong, accounting and legal advice tends to land better.

Values & Fit - this protects everyone

I work best with owners and boards who value integrity, discretion and straight talk - and who are willing to act on decisions once they are made.

I don’t take sides.
I don’t escalate conflict.
I don’t offer shortcuts.

The aim is steady judgement, fair process and decisions that stand the test of time.

How engagements typically begin

Many relationships start with a structured Strategy Day or governance diagnostic -providing clarity before major structural or transaction decisions are made.

From there, I may remain involved as an independent advisor alongside existing professional advisors.

Referral conversation

If you have a client where ownership complexity, succession or alignment feels unclear, I’m always happy to have a confidential initial conversation.
